No they are not. When you come your hair or cut it, it doesn't hurt because your hair is made of dead cells.

I'm sure this is not the best answer.

Hair is protein. Living cells produce the protein, but protein is a chemical and is not alive, because it is not made of cells.

I don't think so. The root inside the scalp is living but your actual hair is dead skin cells I believe.

Hair has no cellular structure, dead or alive. It is a cell product, but is not itself cellular.
