Great question! Since I went to U-M for 4 years and love Chinese food, I've been to most of the Chinese anyway (if you want Thai or something else, ask again).
Overall, the best, most authentic (slightly higher priced than regular) Chinese restaurant in the area is Great Lake Seafood Restaurant on Carpenter and Packard. (Don't let the name fool you, they serve all Chinese classics). Great seafood dishes, (walnut shrimp!), Hong Kong style Sweet and Sour Pork is my fave, and the General Tso's is tangy and spicy and awesome.
For a more American style place with just as good food, Middle Kingdom on Main street is a must-try... they have pretty good dishes (Sesame Chicken) in HUGE portions... you will have leftovers no matter how hard you try. China Gate on South University is also a good college-age place, small and loud but high-quality food all the time.
Another excellent choice is Champion House on Liberty. Great lunch specials... 5.50-6 bucks for a great meal no matter how picky you are.
As for takeout, Saigon Garden on S. Forest is good... much much better than Lucky Kitchen or Oriental Express (avoid those two at all costs!) And if you need delivery, there's a place on Eisenhower called Paradise something that delivers around the city (try their Vietnamese noodle dishes if you're looking for something new).
You will not run out of places to try... but the absolute best Chinese place in Ann Arbor is Great Lake... by far.

My daughter likes the Mongolian one downtown. I haven't tried it, but she likes it. There are so many different restaurants down there, I'm sure there's at least one that you'd like.
