Perhaps you do, but I don't think that you need to know hate in order to know love. What do you think....

I think you DO have to know sorrow in order to truly know joy and to be able to appreciate joy!

The love / hate thing - I don't know about that - I could ponder that for quite a while.

I think you appreciate the joy more once you've had sorrow. When you're a child I don't think it matters but as we get older we tend to take too many things for granted.

I don't think that you need to go through sorrow however I think that joy with gratitude for what might have been would certainly be a different feeling.

I dont think it is necessary to KNOW sorrow in order to KNOW joy, you will experience and feel both either way at some point in your life, but it is important to experience one in order to APPRECIATE the other.....

I think to be a well rounded person you must experience it all. I love that song "you learn" by lYou Learn

I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone
I recommend walking around naked in your living room
Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)
It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)
Wait until the dust settles

You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn

I recommend biting off more than you can chew to anyone
I certainly do
I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at anytime
Feel free
Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears

You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn

Wear it out (like a three-year-old would do)
Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway)
The fire trucks are coming up around the bend

You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn
You scream you learn

You grieve you learn
You choke you learn
You laugh you learn
You choose you learn
You pray you learn
You ask you learn
You live you learn

No...I think that most people experience different things in there life that allows them to feel the feeling. When you get dumped from a spouse that feeling is not so good but when you find a "new" love that feeling is great. I hope you find the answer.

You need to undestand both to understand each.
