Yes, many times. I've written poems on many topics and had them published over the years. I won my first poetry contest in the 5th grade with a poem about the tragedy of the Texas Revolution.

the final rule isn't "the greater words the greater suitable." 3 nicely-chosen words could nicely be 1000 circumstances greater suitable than 2 pages of gibberish. The judges have been for sure no longer finding out the winners in accordance to be conscious count selection, and that's the way it may be.

Uh oh. Sounds like you won a contest where you'll win the privilege of buying the book you were "published" in. Its sort of like "Whos Who in American High Schools", if that makes any sense. Don't fall for it!

I used to write a lot of poems, love sick stuff, soppy old me. Never entered a competition myself, but my daughter has twice and got both published. The first was called 'The person that never was'. and the second was ' A stranger'. We have copies of both books.
I'm very proud of her.

These contest are scams. You have to pay to get in or they will ask you to buy a copy of the book with you poem in it.

Not mine, but my mother's (brag, brag). She is a professional and has been recognized by national writers' magazines and professional poetry journals--not the kind that want to sell you their book.

When we are far apart
Can lonliness break my heart
I love you darling,indeed i do
Sleep is sweet when i dream of you
All is like a blooming rose
Night is falling so i must go
With this I have a message in mind
You must read the first word in every line

Most poetry contests are scams.
The winners don't even get a ham.
Not even a date with Pam or Sam.
So take it on the lam, and go eat some jam.
