I always try to do things that my husband does, because he always tries to do things that I do. We have achieved equality in our home-- both of us working for roughly the same amount of annual income, but doing very different kinds of work.
What we have discovered is that there are just some things that he's better at doing than I am, and some things I am better at.
When it comes to changing a tire, he can only watch for a few minutes and then it's, "Get outta the way, we will be here all day!" LOL. Anything mechanical or heavy, he's just much better at.
I'm pretty much in charge of the checking accounts and paying the bills, because I'm better at it (or at least he wants me to think I am, because he hates doing it).
We both cook and take care of the household chores, but he does more of the outside ones and I do more of the inside ones. I'm a better cook and I do almost all the baking, but he's not above jumping in and making sweet rolls or chili or whatever he has a taste for.
I used to be kind of a women's libber.... but that was 30 years ago. Now I realize that we don't have to be the SAME to be EQUAL.

Women's lib is out. We never recieved equal rights. President Ronald Regan saw to that. He quieted the women down and dropped the issue. Look at the Amendments or Bill of Rights. Not there. There is no such thing as equal employment or equal pay for women.
I change my own tire so I know that it is done correctly. You would be surprised how many men do it wrong.
I repair my own vehicle so I will not taken for a ride by a ripoff mechanics. My father taught me how and it is in my genes.
Any body can jack around and mess things up. Believe me I know. When I've broke down along the rode some man always stops. A few times I alowed the men to assist me only to stop them when I realized they had no idea what they were doing, and that he would prefer to tear something up rather than admit he doesn't know what he is doing.

it was SOOOO funny my brother who goes to Black Hills State University, one day he got into a heated arguement with a womans libber at a student senate election debate. when he was all done with tutoring in the math lab that evening he went out to find the same girl out standing next to her car that had a flat tire that just so happened to be parked three cars from my brothers car. my brother being the nice guy that he is, changed the tire for her. it was very ironic!!! but she didnt say anything to him for days! He got the last laugh on that one!!!

I don't hate to change a flat tire. I don't see the need for doing it when I earn enough to pay someone else to get sweaty and dirty.
