You are going to buy a B-Pump and trick you baby into drinking it but most docs. tel newborn mother to feed there baby's formula because it has certain protien ect. in it to help the baby devolope. they also tell new mother do do that becasue they do not want the baby's to get addicted to the Breast Milk.

Stop giving her water right away. A baby does NOT need anything but breast milk and/or formula nor does a baby's system need "flushing". You baby has become used to drinking from a bottle which is easier than breast feeding. Breast milk is a perfect food for a newborn and is comprised of a lot of water already. Infants run a danger of getting water intoxication and also will fill up on water and not be hungry for breast milk. Do not give your baby anything with an artificial nipple such as a pacifier or bottle until she has started nursing again. Your breasts will probably become engorged and you may need to pump or express some of the milk so she can latch on properly. I am not sure what type of doctor you take your baby to, but I would suggest you make a switch to another doctor. Contact your local La Leche League or your hospital's lactation consultant for further assistance if you can not get your baby to nurse in the next day or 2.

Just keep trying. Don't give up. I wouldn't start pumping yet, if the baby gets too used to the bottle this early, she'll never go back to the breast. Newborns should *not* have water, especially babies who are breastfed! Try contacting La Leche League, they should have contacts in your area. They usually recommend introducing a bottle no earlier than 8 weeks, that way the baby is well established with the breast and will be comfortable with both. Don't give up on breastfeeding, it's the *PERFECT* food for your baby. Good luck.

I had the same problem, because my baby had jaundice i had to use formula and breastfeed. My baby seemed to take the bottle better, so i went to see a consultant, and she said to maybe pump a little into a bottle, or use a pacifier. Have the baby suck a couple sucks on the bottle or pacifier and then put to the breast. Keep doing that a few times to let her know you want her to take the breast. It seemed to help for me. So maybe you could try that! Also, make sure your baby has a wide opening before putting on the breast that way you know she latches on well too!!! good luck!

Your doc is nuts! No baby that yound would need water, only breastmilk or formula, and if you are bf'ing, you shouldn't offer a bottle for about 6 weeks until proper latch is established and so not to cause nipple confusion. Get rid of the bottles and only offer breast. She'll get on it again quick. Good luck!

And get another doc.

Well its not to hard, you just try to get her on the boob when she is only sort of hungry, or else you can wait until she gets hungry enough and she will take your boob, she might cry through it all but she will eat from your breast if she gets hungry enough. Another suggestion is mabye use a nipple sheild to put over y our breast so she can get the feel of that again.

Just keep trying, that is really all you can do. You may have to switch to a bottle now. My daughter would not feed well on the breast. I gave her a bottle and she sucked it all back. You could pump to a bottle if necessary. Good luck.

i don't know why your doctor told you that, i have never heard of that before. i wouldn't give her water anymore. just breastfeed her. being able to breastfeed is way better than giving her water. babies don't need water anyway. i would check into getting another doctor.
