For Halloween, im going to be Rosie The Riviter. I did research on the character & wondered what it was like back then. Ive always been interested in a persons life & personal experiences. Any ideas on how to find things like that? On video would be awesome..

Bravo on being a person who researches these things!

I don't know a source on the Internet or a video, but my mother-in-law worked in the wing division of an aircraft manufacturing plant and was a real-life Rosie the Riveter.

She told me it didn't pay well, that it barely paid enough for anyone to get by. She also said, in spite of it being necessary for women to do these jobs due to so many of our menfolk being overseas, that there was still prejudice against women working in any capacity much less in what was perceived as a traditional man's job. So, she was both proud of what she was doing but wary of those who would condemn her for doing it.

She also said most of the women in her division were either strong minded or desperate to make a living and that it wasn't glorious so much as hard, hard work. None the less, women who did it were a proud and tough bunch ......... albeit tired.
