.....i have a plastic sword as well but i want to be as armed to the teeth as possible for halloween, like any self respecting pirate would. however, most of my weapons seem to be space related, is it ok to mix the genres?

It'll go about as well as, say, carrying an M-16 or a bazooka.
Halloween is too much for fun for people to quibble about it, but I think you ought to go realistic -- carry a cutlass like a "real" pirate, or get a Storm Trooper outfit to go with the light saber.

only if you want to be a space age pirate. or else people will just think you are a star wars freak even though you are dressed as a pirate. then just stick to the sword.
