My ex-wife had her new boyfriend called my daughters school pretending to be me and ask for my daughter's school record. Reason I know because the phone # that was left with the school was her number? Is it a criminal offense?

No - just ask the former Chairwomen of HP. It is called "Pretexting" and it is specifically forbidden in California. Patricia Dunn will probably getting her Chemotherapy in a state prison someplace.

It's always illegal to impersonate someone else. It's against the law.
