Whenever you feel like it. Don't let what the stores do dictate when you decide to start decorating.
Honestly though, there is not alot of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas for them to wait until the last second to display their Christmas stock. The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest Christmas shopping day, so they have no choice but to have merchandise already out before then. Nearly all stores, no matter what type, are closed for Thanksgiving, and early the day before Thanksgiving, so there is no one around to open the doors for anyone to come in to stock the shelves for the 5am shopping rush.
Also shoppers generally like to get a head start so as to spread out their purchases. Alot of people mention how they go broke and even into debt from buying gifts for everyone and most wouldn't be able to afford to do that within a week before Christmas, on top of other holiday events they may be obligated to attend and working to pay for everything in the first place.

I think.. but not 99% of the Americans... that the right time to start with halloween decorations was last week..
I have three stupid people in my general neighborhood who have their Christmas(NOT Hallowen.. Now Thanksgiving) but Christmas decorations up already.. That just goes to show you how stupid Christmas has gotten in the United States.. Christmas stuff is already for sale and has been for sale for a while in the stores.... I also consider this practice disgusting

Hi there!!
My husband and I love to decorate for Christmas, so we get all of our decorations up the day after Thanksgiving and keep it up until after New Year's! If I'd be able to get away with it, I'd put my decorations up right after Halloween hahaha. Basically, it's your decision and do whatever makes you feel comfortable and gets you in the holiday spirit!! :)

Well malls and public places usually decorate asap so they can get the crowd to buy, buy, buy. But families should decorate their home around, the day after Thanksgiving. In fact, my family does it almost every Thanksgiving night.

I think it is too soon! Christmas should not be put out until after Thanksgiving. Part of the fun is the anticipation, and pulling it all out too early kind of takes the 'specialness' away.
