I have had it both ways.

With my first, I lost my muscous plug at 30 weeks. I went into to pre-term labor at 31 weeks, had labor stopped and put on bed rest. My son was born at 35 weeks, healthy as can be.

With my second, I never saw my mucous plug and went full term with her after two pre-term labor scares. I was dilated to 5 for about a month before she was born.

It totally depends! Either way is okay, its just nice to have some kind of sign to show you that you are getting closer!

Good Luck!

I lost my mucus plug Sunday around 3pm and had my son Monday morning @ 2:41am. I guess it was right timing. I had feel a little contraction before loosing the plug. Pain really got intense when I got to the hospital.

I had my daughter in the hospital. My water broke at 12:30 am and I never lost my mucus plug, they say that sometimes you will loose it and not notice it. It took me 18 hours of staight labor to get her out, however I still had to be induced. At 1:30 am I was in the hospital and I got very lucky cause they let me eat at 7am and induce me at 7:15am. I went all natural, so the doctor let me eat. We didn't tell the anestisiologist (sorry don't know how to spell that word).
Good Luck

I lost mine about 2 weeks before I had my son and I still had to be induced at that time. I never started labor naturally even after I lost my plug at 39 weeks.

You can go into labor without losing your mucous plug. With three kids I have never seen mine and I did have my water break at home once.

I lost my mucous plug with all three of my pregnancys and always delivered within 1 month. I've been told time after time that it's normal and it will grow back. Just keep a look out for any bleeding or liquidy discharge and cramping.
