The beauracracy that is our political party system ensures that a single vote has no value. To have any say in the world, you either have to have alot of money and time or be entrenched in an existing political party for years. Everything requires you to nod to the guy that has been around. We are no Freer than Russia

Single votes have as much effect as they always have. It is the same effect as a single snowflake has in a blizzard.

If your real question is why does it take time/money to be a politician, the answer is the same as for why does it take so long for a redwood to grow --- it just does.

Sorry. It's always been this way. Politicians aren't elected. They're installed. Now with the computer voting, it's hi tech cheating.
