Wow, some off the wall answers here. The other answer that says x5 and z4 are the only one built in the U.S. is correct. Everything else is built in Germany other than a few 3 series built in South Africa.

Everything depends on the dealers next available allocation. From the day the order is placed, if being built, not already in the build process, will take no longer than eight weeks. It's typically 6-8 wks.

Call you salesman and ask for the production number. With that number you can create an account on www.bmwusa.com/ownerscircle and follow your new x3 through the entire build process, including when it's put on a ship to the United States....It's awesome.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Even an older one just plain drives better than 95% of anything else on the road. It's almost something you can't describe. It's a precision. You point the car a direction, that's where it goes, precisely, no fuss. You enjoy commuting (or driving all over town all day, as my job requires) so much more because you get the chance to drive your Ultimate Driving Machine. They don't just make that slogan up. They have earned it, in the way they bring everything a car should be, together. Front engine, rear wheel drive, 50/50 weight distribution, ridiculously strong bodies, often an inline 6, the list goes on... The inline 6 is the perfect engine design, with perfect first and second order harmonics, look it up if you don't know what that means. It's a smoothness you can feel. I enjoy mine every day. Like any car it has a few weak spots (cooling system lol) but I do my own work and replaced all of that and now she's ready for the next 150k. Like so many have said, once you drive one, you may never drive anything else. I'm thinking of what my second one might be, but for now I've got a lot of enjoyment left in my e46.

It's funny how "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence". I stationed in Germany and just ordered an American built M5 from the American factory because i want American specs. I was told that it would take 4-6 months. (they already have a backlog of orders for most BMW's) Good Luck and happy motoring.

the US factory only builds X5's and Z4's, but everything entering the country is routed and processed there. It usually takes 7 days from the time you order until the car is actually begins the build process. The actual building only takes a few days but it's still usually about 2 months before it gets to the US factory and processed out. My answer to you would be about 2 months until it's ready to leave SC.

Oh and I see most people still don't understand the SAV thing yet do they? Enjoy your car!

Herzlichen Glückwunsch!

Well if you ordered an SAV X3 or the new X5 it won't be coming from german. Those are build on South Carolina. If you want an eta call your sales person have him give you the production number then go to www.bmwusa.com put in the number and you can track the progress.

have fun

Every dealer has a certain number of slots each month for their orders, doesn't matter if they are for US or Euro delivery orders.

When your dealer has an actual VIN number assigned to your car, then they can tell you when your car will be made, plus or minus a few days. Then there is shipping time. Until you get the VIN number, everything is just an estimate.

6 months ago I ordered my 330 convertible from the factory, it took just under 7 weeks to get it. You can track it's progress at the factory on the internet at BMW owner's circle

If the sales people get your order and have it in stock, it should arrive in 2-24 weeks after the payment has cleared.

Sorry, ron, it's not going to show. I managed to hack into the system, and it's been rerouted to MY address.

Sorry and all that.

Oh, by the way, did you remember to order the winter package? I live in Milwaukee, and it's a requirement.

As you know, we here order BMW's all the time.
I usually make do with my Aston Martin and my Bently 'til i comes.
Damned if I'd send my plane over here to pick it up.
