These days most companies have to do at least two things: 1) make sure you're a legal resident of the US and 2) a background check. The latter includes verifying your resume, a credit check and a drug test. If you owe them, or anyone else a bad debt, you may not get the job; especially if you'll be working with money or finance.

Some might-some might not

Wise person would say you get your money back if they owe you
Vengeful person would say no way and i am taking you to court for my money

Either way they want their money-try to contact the collections dept and make a payment agreement just to make it look good.

Only you know how ethical this company is-some say they cant trust you after you fail to pay

Others say if your car & home were repo'd and before you rbad luck you paid your debts they chalk it up to life. Even if they do a background check and dont find it you should tell. Most empoyers are "at will" and they can use it as a reason to let you go down the line

Yes, they will. Matter of fact, they will be more than happy to hire someone who has a good work record and owes them money. They will keep it private and hire you. Good luck.

More than likely the two departments that would know dont' communicate, but I can see it all depending on the size and type of company.

They might. They might hire you to get you to pay your debt to them, but tehy probably won't even check that.
