After the Civil War the Republicans had emerged with Lincoln to join the Democrats as the 2 major parties to my best knowledge.
The Whigs by then had gone extinct. But don't take my word for it, try a history book.

The Democratic, and Republican parties were around in 1866, right at the start of Reconstruction.

The wig party and the federalists mostly, there were a few others but none as significant as the 2 main.
