GERALD FORD was never elected to the office of Vice President or president, yet he held both offices. He is/was the only man hver to hold the office of President without having been elected to either office.

He became Vice President by appointment, following the resignation of Vice President Spiro Agnew. Then, as Vice President, he became President when President Richard Nixon resigned. After his term expired, he chose not to run for another term in office.
