I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 with a Dell TrueMobile 1150 Wireless mini PCI card with Windows XP Home Edition and a new Toshiba M105-S3064 Notebook with Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Net wireless card with Windows XP Media Edition. The Dell does not have the option of AES and I've not been able thus far to find an updated driver that works other than in the TKIP mode.

In my opinion it just manner of key really. Extremely but I mean extremely long, strong and random key will preventing compromising network, while short and weak is just as crackable as WEP.

It is generally considered safer to use a WPA ( http://www.wifiknight.com/?p=5 ).

But some software which is fairly easy to find (no I won't give a link) seems able to crack WPA as fast as a WEP.

WPA2 is coming and should provide much better security.

Just don't be too paranoid, from my experience very few people get attacked that way and in the worst cases, the responsible is almost always found.
