Unfortunately at the early age of 15. I was forced to work and take care of myself. I had to pay rent, gas, lights, etc. I lived on my own. Really, it is not as horrible as it sounds, I have two college degrees and have one college educated child, on in his first year of college and two still in school. So God has been very good to me. Adversity made me stronger. God bless

At 14. My mother's mother had a heart attack, then a stroke, and at the time we were all living together in Louisianna;me, my mom, my dad, my grandfather, my grandmother and my uncle. She lasted two weeks, and during that time and after she passed away, my mother was not able to handle much of anything. My dad took care of the bills, and I did all the cooking, cleaning, housework and things like that. I think it gave me some good practice in many reagrds for the rest of my life.

At 17, when I realized I had to try to be a better person, because I was going to have a baby. That really changed my life. My mom says if I hadn't gotten pregnant, I would have gone to jail or been killed. My kids really saved my life!
