Do you think politicians are completely out of step with the general public?

I do, so many of the issues I hear them making a big deal about, just don't matter to me, such as the huge deal over steriod use, a stupid amendment to defend marriage, and so many other issues

Much to our dismay our law makers are more interested in steroid use in baseball than in how many illegals are slipping across our borders.
All of our legislators are so worried about keeping their office, That they will not stand up on matters like the border, to defend and protect America.
Why? Because they are afraid they might loose votes and their precious job.
I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat (I believe in voting for who I think will do the best job) but for 8 years now the Democrats have acted like a two year old throwing a tantrum.
Never, in my 61 years have I heard a sitting President be constantly slammed, slandered, defamed and belittled, the way Bush has been.
All a foreign country has to do is watch our news and see the open disrespect being shown our President, to realize America has no respect for its self.
Why should they respect us..
That is why we have lost respect in the foreign community.
When Bush made the comment to all countries. "you are either with us or against us." it did not turn France, Germany and Russia against us.
They didn't join us because France as a country and its high powered business men were making millions off Saddam, approximatly 10 million a month.
Germany was the same way both Germany and France in violation of the sanctions imposed on Iraq. wereselling Saddam weapons.
When our troops first went into Bagdad, I believe it was an Austrailian squad that found 5 brand new mirrage fighter jets and five brand new German attack heliocopters buried in the sand to try and hide them.
Russia, was telling Saddam as much as they could find out about our attack plans and offered Saddam safe passage to Russia.
France also offered Saddam and his entire group of thugs a safe haven.
I think we should have let Germany have France back in WWII. France has proven it was not worthy of a single American life lost to free it.

I am completely on board with you here. They are completely out of step. They have no idea what we go through on a day to day basis and what is truly important. Besides, you know they have to side with the minority. I do not mean color of skin minority by the way. Its just that the minority is always heard and the majority is silent. Gay marriage who gives a rats as/s. I dont care who marries. As a matter of fact I am ready to give marriage to the gays completely. Let them have it and good luck. You will be divorced just like everybody else.
