It's funny how people always call them simply "seagulls" I find this indicative of general ignorance and uninterested nature of most people. The birds you usually see hanging around chip trucks and parking lots, landfills etc are actually Ring-billed Gulls or Herring gulls among other less common species like Caspian terns who sometimes also frequent the same areas. None of these birds are named "seagulls" that is a laymans term and in fact many of them do not prefer sea habitat. I like Ring-billed gulls, they are beautiful, graceful birds and there is a large population where I live, several thousand miles inland. There is nothing up with these birds, in fact I think the real question is.... Whats up with people calling them seagulls thier whole life without ever finding out what species of bird it actually is, and educating themselves about these birds habitat and habits...

They're doing good. Working every day, meeting new people, you know, just taking one day at a time.
They are wondering why you never call them anymore. Take a minute, drop a dime, say hello.
