It is very difficult to know quite what to do.

The problem is unsafe sex, coupled with ignorance and a general desire "not to listen to the white guy".

It doesn't really matter how many millions or billions are sent to Africa, if people keep having unsafe sex then the HIV epidemic will continue to get worse - as will the ever increasing numbers of parent-less HIV+ children.

It is ghastly and desperately sad - but all the folks who are HIV+ in Africa do not have a promising outlook. the only practical thing to do is to learn from the horror and STOP having unsafe sex.

It isn't happening.

I work in a research facility that is on the verge of finding a vaccine for HIV and somewhat close to finding a cure for AIDS. You wouldn't believe the amount of funding that comes through this school alone. $2 billion is nothing.

What more do you want the government to do, besides keep pushing the money through the people finding the cures and the people that are out in the field offering their lives and their medical experience? There's not much more to be done. It will be a matter of time before a vaccine is administered.

Yes, it does make you wonder, that and they reckon AIDS isn't caused by sex.
