It used to be effective. Now we are coming to resemble a dictatorship. Our Congress doesn't have the balls to stand up to Bush.

We have a congress because that is what our founding fathers thought would be a good part of govt. We have a bicameral leg., consisting of the house of representatives, and congress. that helps create a system of checks, and balances.

We elect people to congress because they represent us as citizens and individual states. They are supposed to make laws to protect us.
