This is my first time changing my oil, so I need some help. I looked under the truck and I think I found the pan, but I'm not sure if I'm right. How far back is it from the engine? Is the drain plug on the front of the pan (towards the engine), on the back (towards the back of the car), or on either side of the pan (driver's or passenger's side)? The owner's guide does not explain the oil changing process very well and does not point out where the pan or drain plug is. Any detail or additional oil changing advice would help. Thanks!!

Your oil pan is right under the engine and the drain plug is right there. do not over tighten the drain plug and its suggested that you replace the drain plug gasket ( just suggested ). The drain plug is going to be on the lowest point of the oil pan. Change the oil warm, change the filter, only tighten the filter about 3/4 of a turn after it touches the block and make sure the old gasket comes off with the old filter. 24$ doesnt sound so bad at Jiffy Lube does it ........LOL

Your subject seems to be you're unwilling to confess you do not have a clue on what you're doing. there's a lube shop on the city which will try this job for $30/40. It that pan below the engine, that has a drain plug at its lowest factor, often in direction of the rear.

It's an inexpensive process. $14 to $30 depending on where you go.If you can see what the tech is doing when you take it to the shop, you'll get an idea.
If you have a neighbour or family member who knows about cars ask them.
