I think I know the answer to this, want to see if anyone else does. In the 2008 presidential election, barring Dick Cheney running, we will have two candidates, neither of which are a sitting president or vice president. When was the last time this happened?

definately 54 years ago...1952..

Also, barring Jeb Bush running, this will be the first presidential election since 1976 that a Bush or a Dole will not be on a national ticket..
