I am frightened beyond belief! Any who, I just got word that my quarter report card will have a big fat 'B' on it, and I am so super nervous. My teacher said that if we pass the AP exam he'll change our grades at the end of the year to straight A's. I am still scared though. Any words of encouragement to allay my concerns (has this ever happened to you)?

Actually, it's AP Bio, so it is sorta just there for a letter grade...jk! Maybe I should explain, I'm a Junior and I'm taking 5 APs this year (I took 1 last eyar). Our teachers get our grades, so he can just go to the registrar and request that they change the grades if we get a 3 or better. I'm not good at Biology, but my counselor put me in the class since AP Chemistry was full. I'm just reall nervous in general!

It looks like you're getting a B in an AP course. Don't worry about it. (I know it's a hard not to do so) It's only the first marking period, and there is plenty of time to improve your grade.
It also depends on which AP course you are taking. For example, a B in AP BC Calculus is considered very good. However, a B in an AP Enviromental Science course is not so good because it's equivalent to only one semester of a college course.
Don't be scared and relax. I'm taking a bunch of AP's as well and my grades aren't straight-A's anymore, either. I'm a junior (how about you?) but I've heard that junior year grades tend to drop a bit, but on a more positive note the year gets easier as we learn what the teachers expect from us.
One of my AP teachers tells me that sometimes students that get like a B+ in their first marking period grade end up with an A in the course, while those who get A's in the first marking period do not. I know it doesn't make sense at first glance, but he said that seeing that B on the report card serves as a "wake-up" call, and it motivates us to do better further in the year.
So good luck with everything and remember not to stress!

I am in AP Euro, the only AP class open to sophmores, and I have a solid B+ right now. Like you I am upset about not having an A. My teacher told us though since it is a "weighted course" (I am not sure if your school has weighted classes or not ) the grade is like a half a grade or so higher in a non AP class. So a B is like a B+ or a A. Colleges also regard B's in AP classes as really good too.
Don't worry it will get better. The first quarter is always the hardest with getting used to the teacher, class and whole new teaching techniques.
Good Luck

no, i got perfect A's and then got a 5 on the ap, i know kids that got B's and got a 5 as well... so i guess you shouldn't stress out.

by the way what does passing the ap exam mean(getting above a 3, or getting a 5) and you usually don't receive your ap exam grade until after school is out, after you get your final letter grade from your teacher.

I'm in the AP American history and I got a B too. It's okay.

Whoa, what are you so concerned about? Just make sure you learn something. Class isn't there to put another "A" on a sheet of paper.
