President historians judge and rank presidents according to set of criteria after Presidents leave office. In about 2 years after Dubya Bush, these historians will start evaluating his past performance. He was ranked No. 21 after his 1st term. They will be shocked at the humungous screwups in his 2nd term which may easily make the worst ever. And he will have more screwups as he is now in remaining 2 years (the lame period) where he will lose his authority especially if Dems win Congress. This President is really a disaster in the making. Despite all his strong image he tries to project, he must quietly be saying to himself "Will it get any worse?".

Carter was bad but he above quite a few and had a average ranking of 26. Harding was the worst and the screwups were mainly the economy and corrupt administration. Bush screwups espeatcially the Iraq War with it negative global impact, cost in terms of $$ and lives, wiretapping, Katarina etc may just be worse than Harding. Let us wait and see.

The worst one I have seen was J. Carter, followed closely by G. W. Bush and Gerald R. Ford. The best one I have seen is W. Clinton. I am not old enough to have seen much of R. Nixon or L. B. Johnson. Obama has a chance to equal Clinton. So far he has been better than Ronald Reagan at the same points in their presidencies.

I can definitely see how Harding got the vote; re: Teapot Dome Scandal, just the tip of the iceberg. Dubya, suffice to say, is nowhere near my list of the top ten Presidents, but there have been ones a lot worse than him. Personally, I think the worst president in my lifetime was the first president of my lifetime, Ron Reagan.

No, I think that still belongs to Nixon. Clinton got caught with his pants down, but did a lot of good things for the country. The economy was good during his adminitration, national debt was at an all time low. The scandal will stick out, but that won't make him the worst president. Bush all though he made a huge mistake in Iraq, is still very favorable among conservative Christians which make up a very large part of the country.

My vote has to be for Reagan,

"The battle for the mind of Ronald Reagan was like the trench warfare of World War 1: Never have so many fought so hard for such barren terrain." -Peggy Noonan- special assistant and speech writer to Reagan '84-'88

No, because not all of the presidents served during a war. If all of them had served during a war, then yes he would.

I never did vote for him.

Still I don't think he will go down as the worst. I would be interested in seeing where he ends up though.

No, I believe that place in history already belongs to William Jefferson Clinton. I don't think you'll find adultery anywhere on GWB's resume.
