I would sugguest that you show the basic principle that the nuclear power plant uses to generate electricity. Hot water is turned into steam and the steam turns a turbine that moves magnets around to generate power. Show this by boiling water (ask your parents for help if you don't think you are under 12!) in a kettle, and when the water boils and steam comes out of the spout have a pinwheel (or anything that will spin or turn) be turned by the steam, tape or do this in the classroom (ask your teacher!). Talk about how no direct pollution is created if Uranuim rods were used to heat the water and how a nuclear power plant is closed system.
Good Luck.

I do not suggest you try to build a model reactor. Your project will have to be on paper with drawings and explanations. Do an internet search on nuclear power, and use wikipedia for help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power
