I don't understand why the president feels the need to build a fence. He says that it is to increase homeland security and decrease drug smuggling and immigration. I think this is total crap for the following reasons:
1. Drugs are going to find their way into the country regardless. All you need is a ladder.
2. Other than drugs do we really need to protect ourselfs from Mexico? What did they ever do to us? Canadian border next?
3. Why would you want to stop immigration? Immigrants do not really take jobs away from legit citizens. People always complain about it, but usually immigrants end up doing crappy low paying jobs that no one else wants.
4. A complete waiste of money, that could be used for lots of better things.
5. Blocking off rio grand from US citizens is rediculous
6. When we have helped tear down others' walls, what message does building walls send to the rest of the world?

I don't know why, since we are so scared of illegal entry to the U.S. we don't just put a dome over our country and that way our government can also control whether we get air to breathe or not.

I think the wall is an incredible waste of time and money. I think the money would be better spent on manpower and enforcement. However, I disagree with your position on immigration. I am all for legal immigration to this country, but totally opposed to illegal immigration. This idea that illegal aliens only take jobs Americans won't do is ridiculous and always has been. Americans did and still do these jobs in many places in the country. The truth of the matter is that illegal aliens just do them for less money. Further using fraudulent documents there are many illegals who are taking higher paying jobs in areas like the tech sector. People from all over the world want to come to America and we should welcome as many as we can legally, but just because we share a border doesn't mean that you get to jump to the head of the line.

I like all of you points but especially the last one. The drug trafficking might slow down a bit, but it is true that drugs in general will find their way in. Overall, I think this a horrible act that is undiplomatic and does not solve the problem. It does not even help solve the problem. The problem as I see it is why Mexicans would want to risk their lives to come to American and work for pennies. Something needs to be done to help the people across the border. Right now, the U.S. is looking toward Africa and southeast Asia in their humanitarian efforts and maybe it is time to look toward Mexico.

Who thinks a fence between US and Mexico is a good idea? Probaby nearly every tax-paying citizen who has ever lived in Southern California, Arizona, Texas, or any other border state whose economy and well-being has been destroyed by the rapid influx of these leeches on our society.

(I'm pretty sure this isn't going to get a "best answer" vote. Oh well. Maybe a thumbs-up or two, though!) :-)

right here is an exciting tale approximately that...... there have been quite 2 votes on the project. in the 1st vote tha republicans overwhelming authorized the fence. on the 2d vote which became for the investment, the invoice did no longer pass. however the republicans can thump their chests on the marketing campaign path approximately how they voted for the fence that even they found out became a stupid answer to the project.

Good fences make good neighbors.
Imagine your yard has no fence. The
neighbors to your left come on to your
lawn and have a picnic. They use your
water, they raid your fridge and sleep
in your bed. The next day, the neighbors
to your right come over. They use your
water, food and house. Next day, more
neighbors show up. You didn't invite them,
but they come anyway. Is this still ok with
you. You going to keep taking them in or
are you going to build the fence? Call the
cops?

I think it is a great idea and hope it is going to be an electric fence! The illegals not only take jobs, they also get on every free aid they can get. Free food, health care etc. Not to mention they expect the English speaking people of America to cater to them! I LOVE that they are building the wall!

It's ridiculous. If they are going to build a fence, why not be a little less racist and built one along the Canadian boarder as well? And then, while they are at it, stop all shipping from coming into the US. yes, close the ports!

It's a typical Conservative response. Give someone a band-aid for a broken arm and pretend like it'll fix it.

Maybe when Mexico fixes it's problems and makes itself into a successful country, we wont need a fence. Right now, Mexico and the US are TOO different to even consider tearing down any walls/fences.
