Ok I still haven't got my period and I went to the doctors - he wasn't that helpful. I explained my period was 15 days late and said I had taken two tests which came bck negative. He felt my tummy and then said it could be stress why I haven't got it yet. I asked if it was worth me taking a test there but he said they are just the same as the home pregnancy tests and to do another one on Thurs if it still hasn't come.
I haven't yet, I will but I can't keep spending money on these things! How long should I leave it until I go back to the doctors again? I might go to the my local FP clinic as felt that my doctor could have been more helpful.

I'm 24 so no definately not going through the menopause! I know I should relax but my periods have always been regular and it's not just the thought of pregnancy that worries me, it could be something else and feel that going to my doctor was a waste of time!

Definitely go to the FP clinic or another doctor and ask them for a blood test.
I would think if your period was 15 days late and normally quite regular they would want to check you out for other things that could cause amenorrhea and oligomenorrhea even if you're not pregnant.
good luck! Oh, and if you do need to keep buying your own HPTs, try Poundland if you need to save some cash.

I know it may be a surprise but the pregnancy test the doctor does IS in fact the same type you buy in the store.
Stress can be a major period stopper. The more you worry the less likely your period will come.
If you still have not had your period then go to the doctor again and tell them you want a BLOOD pregnancy test. That will tell you for sure if your pregnant or not. Take it easy. Try to relax. Probably as soon as you relax you will get your period.

It is possible (obviously) with these symptoms as well as being 15 days late.
Your GP is right in that you should wait at least few days before doing another test, to allow the levels of the human pregnancy hormone to increase to a detectable level - if there is any to be detected!
Try your FP clinic for a more supportive attitude, if not a quicker answer.

you have the right to see another doctor and ask for a second opinion or even third. Explain that you were not happy with the previous doctor you saw.
I had irregular periods about a year a go, spent a fortune on pregnancy tests, they were negative. I put it done to stress or medication. I have recently been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, this explains why i sometimes have irregular periods.
Hope this info is helpful. Go and see another Dr

That Doctor sounds like an idiot. Sorry but he/she is suppose to be there to help you. Go to a diff doc and ask for a blood test. That way in about a week you should know for sure. There are many reasons why you might not be getting your period. It could be stress, malnutrition or anything. I hope that all works out for you and I'm sorry that I could't be of more help.

It could be stress . Take a long hot bath have some tea and try to relax. Stop thinking that you might be pregnant or your body will start acting like you are. Try thinking calm thoughts. why not take in a movie after your bath. Put your feat up and relax with a bowl of popcorn. Good luck.

Make sure you do the test first thing in the morning. It detects it better than any other time of day. And your doctor is right the test are the same.

wait untill you have missed a second period then go get a test done at the doc and if still no joy with the docs ask to be refered to a speciallist.
Other than that go to your local FP and they will be happy to help.
Some docs are just no use at all... especially when it comes down to femanine problems.
Good luck! Hope it goes well.
