My son is 17 years old 6ft 1 in and weighs 200 lbs I took his bloodpressure today out of curiosity due to how his face gets a red patch across his nose and cheeks. It read 173 / 70 this has me concerned. Does anyone know what the normal range is for a 17 year old?

170 is not normal for anyone of near adult age.
The Systolic should not be over 130-140. The diastolic is ok at 70.

He should see a doctor.
It is important to note that the wrong size cuff or trying to take it over a shirt can alter it, but generally not that much. Anything over 140 could be High blood pressure and 170 is definitely concerning.

Oh at 6'1", 200lbs may or may not be overwieght, depending on how much muscle mass he has.

It shouldn't matter what his age is- what's considered the normal blood pressure range is the same for all of us. Have him checked out by a doctor and just for fun (wink-wink) get a drug test done too.... unless he's been under a great deal of stress--and I mean a GREAT deal.

Have a great day!!!

The systolic (upper number) is high; the lower number if fine. However, you should see a doctor who is trained, qualified, and licensed to give medical advice. People on this site are not.
