This suggestion comes with a warning:
RINSE VERY WELL!!!!
I use a combination of regular clorox bleach and water. Only about 2 Tbls per cup of water. It will remove any sediment from the brewer and the pot discoloration also. I usually do this for my coffee pot once every 6 months. Removes all the coffee oils and colors.

It needs a little work. It kind of sounds like you're just telling someone a story in person. Written stories, novels, etc. need more structure. Try to focus on the descriptions of the scene rather than the clothing she's wearing, or the hours she wasted. Simple explanations and descriptions of the house would add more suspense. Also, more dialogue between the two before he tries to kill her would help. You could make him leave and go into the kitchen to "get her some water," and she could explore her surroundings first before any conflict happens.

Yes, you can use 1part vinegar to 2 parts water and let it boil through your coffee machine, as if you were making coffee. Then rinse thoroughly and it's ready to use.

Vinegar. Ordinary, every day white vinegar. Run a pot of it through the machine, then run a couple of pots of fresh water to rinse it.

I run a solution of vinegar water through my coffee maker whenever it starts to get sluggish. It seems to work. Half water and half white vinegar.
