I mean, you only spend about 13 years in pre-collegiate education. But as you live your life past that point, you pay for education through your taxes over the rest of your life. How long would you really have to be in school to actually make that "free education" worth paying for for the rest of your life? The government claims to require approx. $10,000-15,000 per child, per year. But how much does a private, higher-quality education cost a person?

I like the recent idea of vouchers.Where's the problem in that? At least then, the government would have someone to compete against and would make the education process more formidable.

It all comes down to your value system. Public education was set up because it was once (and hopefully still is) considered to be the duty of society to make sure that everyone had at least some shot at being educated. Although these examples are somewhat different, society as a whole also felt that we should all chip in for things such as umemployment benefits, fire stations/ firefighters (that actually used to be a private service), and public roads. It used to be that for the vast majority of folks, doing away with these things would be unthinkable. But believe me, where there are millionaires, there are movements to chip away at these services. It comes down to political philosophy. Conservatives generally believe that humans are inherently bad and social darwinism is a desirable thing. Liberals (in the American sense of the word) believe that humans are inherently good and we must strive for a communal effort. I didn't directly address your voucher question, but what I have typed is definitley related to our values and how we feel or don't feel about public education.

You are wise young grasshopper.

Government education is held hostage by the unions. Democrats and liberals are beholden to the unions. It makes perfect sense to inject competition into our educational system. I can't afford to send my children to private schools so I am stuck with a public system that gets worse every year. While the test scores at my school are not as dismal as in other districts - I should have a choice. If you have a choice to abort a baby - why can't you have a choice in your child's education. This is a prime example of how Democrats have been keeping Black Americans from excelling and Black Americans should be OUTRAGED by it!

Vouchers have worked in DC, in Florida. Do you remember the vehement opposition to choice in education after Katrina. Schools were destroyed by Katrina and the schools left standing the Democrats felt were acceptable could not possibly accommodate all the displaced students. President Bush had the audacity to suggest that these school children could attend private schools until their schools were rebuilt. The Democrats threatened to prevent the ENTIRE aid package from being authorized if kids were allowed to go to private schools. Wonder why it took so long...

Is it costly? no longer inevitably. relies upon on the form you bypass approximately it. in case you purchase pre-packaged curriculum, new, on the instant from the writer, then it extremely is costly. yet once you get used books at homeschool help revenues, or online, or at thrift shops, etc., it does not could desire to fee a lot. in case you employ the widespread public library a great deal on your curriculum, it may fee even much less. or you ought to even get loose, used books from the interior of sight college district to apply... maximum homeschoolers are not wealthy. maximum persons have one salary earner and that one frequently isn't pulling interior the enormous greenbacks. yet we make it, reducing corners everywhere, because of the fact our toddlers are our precedence. As for homeschooling working in the event that they're on different pages, that relies upon on how a lot concern you and Sam create for Ben and his mom. with a bit of luck, he will attempt to do what's maximum suitable for Ben and not create subject just to create subject. with a bit of luck, he will provide them the income of the doubt and grant to pitch in and help instruct his son some issues. with a bit of luck, he will mindset it as being drawn to what his son is studying, quite than undesirable-mouthing his son's mom and her intentions. regardless of if it sounds like this is going to remember a lot on Sam and people who impression Sam....
