If I am asked to graph the function of V = 3-0.05cos(200*phi*t) in a graphing calculator of one period, what should I set my window range to? Thanks

How about for 10*phi* sin(200phi*t)?

V = 3 - 0.05cos(200*phi*t)
Now range of cos(Any angle) is -1 ≤ cos(Any angle) ≤ 1

Therefore 3 - 0.05x1 ≤ V ≤ 3 - 0.05x-1
ie 2.95 ≤ V ≤ 3.05 So this is the requred range for your graphing calculator

10*phi* sin(200phi*t)?

Well range sin (Any angle) is -1 ≤ sin(Any angle) ≤ 1

so 10*phi*-1 ≤ 10*phi* sin(200phi*t) ≤ 10*phi*1

ie -10*ph i≤ 10*phi* sin(200phi*t) ≤ 10*phi

The easiest way to do these is put in the maximum and minimum possible values of the trig functions and see what they do to the output.

Both sines and cosines have a period of 2pi. So, when the argument goes from 0 to 2 pi it's one period

200*phi*t = 2pi, solve for t.

I'd prefer to go from - pi to +pi rather than 0 to 2pi, but suit yourself.
