We have started to try for a baby, only came off the pill a month ago, i came off the pill we had a few days of trying then i had a period, i had a proper period and then towards the end of t it was more like spotting. Since the end of this period we have been trying. Is it safe to try for a baby straight after coming off the pill?

best time to catch is 7-10 days after your period, and realistically there are only 36 hours in this 3 day period when you can concieve, but as we dont know when the actuall 36 hour start its best to get busy for them 3 days. good luck but dont expect to catch straight away, im expecting my 7th and it took a year to concieve this time.

Yes it is fine to start straight away. Your body could take a few months to get used to not having the pill in your system. You really need to try 11 days after the day you came on and keep on going until the 16 day to cover all options. Good luck and I hope you hear the patter of tiny feet in 9 to 10 months.

You don't say how long you have been on the pill, but remember that the substance in the pill will be in your body for a while and will take time to 'work' it's way out. Don't get frustrated that you will not 'catch' straight away as this will put more anxiety and pressure on your system and stress is an excellent alternative to the pill. Chill and if it's meant to be it will be.

It is perfectly safe to try straight away, but the reason they say to wait a couple of months is so you body has a chance to have a normal cycle, making it easier to work out when the baby is due.

If you fall pregnant before this happens, the scans at around 12 and 20 weeks will help to work this out anyway.

Anyway, babies arrive when they want to, so due dates are only a guide line anyway. Mine came 9 and 11 days late.

Best of luck

I am in the same boat; coming off the pill to try for a baby and my doctor said I should wait to have at least 1 natural period before trying so they could work out my due date but he'd prefer me to wait up to 3 months and to use condoms for a bit til my body is sorted out. I'm still at the waiting to try stage now although we're getting plenty of practise in!!

i think its OK to start trying for a baby as soon as you come off the pill but do bear in mind that it can take 6-12 months for your periods to go back to normal or to regulate after taking the pill, because your body has to adjust itself, so be patient with your body and try not to get too stressed if your periods are all over the place for a while, best of luck for the future and i hope you get your positive test sooner rather than later............

Once your periods return to normal everything should be all right. If you know when you are Ovulating that is the right time to have sexual intercourse. Try having intercourse as many times as possible during this time. After intercourse try to rest for a while with your legs slightly higher than your body and keep them together. This will help to keep the sperm in you for a longer period. Hope everything goes well for you.

You should be fine. Keep in mind though the pill has to make its way out of your system.

ask my son who was born one month after, or my friend's daughter - also one month after. with today's low dose estrogen pills, it's easy to get pregnant if you're not good at taking your pill regularly.
