George Best should be remembered as an arshole who had a second chance of life after some poor sod died to give him a liver but still chose to get drunk every day. OK he was good at football but that was it!!

George Best was true to his name. He was arguably best ever from UK. He was not considered among world greats as he never played and performed in the biggest of them all, The World Cup.
No, he should not be commemorated. In fact, I don't think sportmen, musicians, movie stars or from entertainment should be commemorated. They are just pop culture and in the wider scheme of things do not make significant impact to the world at large. The impact of pop culture has always been exagerrated.
I love sports, music and movie but I am also not under illusion that if tomorrow, they disappear, the world will suffer. So to commemorate relatively unsignificant celebs like sportsmen is like those universities giving honorary doctorates to famous people.

For anyone who knows anything about football, and you obviously don't! George Best is being commemorated not only as one of the greatest footballers ever, but as a son of Northern Ireland. Being one of the greats is never about creating revenue but being one of the people, someone who was loved and admired by millions. And what do the fekkin japanese know about football. Why dont you ask Steve Perryman.

I asked the same question yesterday, was he a king or faballer get it lol
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/26102006/344/hero-best-immortalised-banknotes.html
its not setting a good example ,his death was by drinking alot, and he never stoped, sure perhaps in his time he was a good footballer, but he changed everyone knows that and knows about his drinking, if he really respected himself why did he drink so much?
I don't think he earned his memory on a 5 pound note , he diffienately lost his respect and shouldnt really be remembered as clearly he doesnt care about himself so why should others
people should do good things in the workd to be remebered always not just after death but living, they making it sound like drinking was ok, its not and its a shame and no matter how high they want to make him look, he'll always been known for heavy drinking that lead a good footballer to death, he choose it that.

As I understand it he is only going to be commemorated in Northern Ireland on Ulster Bank notes. Although I do agree that he shouldn't be glorified the way he has been. The man was an alcoholic wife beater and doesn't deserve the recognition he gets because of that.

Its the Bank of Ulter that are doing it, they did it with Jack Nicklaus over here in Scotland last year, i guess sport is more important than music, id love to see a Sex pistols £5 note, the queens head with "god save the queen" written through it, awesome.

George best is a hero because he spent all his money on fast cars, drink and women, and the rest he squandered.
He is being commemorated by the Ulster bank ........ Not too many things have come out of Ulster in the past 40 years.
