Has anyone ever had the feeling of not being able to move when when you are laying in bed? Almost as if someone is holding you down. It has happened to me once while I was taking a nap at a point where I was half awake and half asleep. This happened to me a few years ago, and it freakedme out then, but now someone I know said the same thing just happened to them? I am curious to know if this has ever happened to anyone and what could this be?

When you sleep your body is purposefully immobilized. It's just part of our genetic makeup, unlike cats and dogs. It keeps us for acting out our dreams. And this actually malfunctions when you have a case of sleep walking or even sleep eating.

That feeling of being held down is you, the weight of you pulling your consciousness into your physical being. It's similar to the feeling or images of falling down when you're going into deeper sleep modes.

YES the same thing has happened to me once before. Let me share my experience:

The first time this happened to me was about 5 years ago. I was living with my parents at the time. Since my parents both went into work pretty early in the morning, it was my responsibility to take my younger sisters to school in the morning. I woke up, drove them to school and came back home to take a nap before I had to get ready to go to work. I remember dozing off and having this "dream" about me getting out of bed and going to the bathroom and getting in the shower...I remember feeling like I wanted to wake up, not being able to move and wanting to scream, but I couldn't. I also remember feeling myself being held down but not actually feeling a person, just weight on my body. After what felt like eternity, I woke up terrified! Wondering if it was all just a dream. It felt so real. I tried to shake it off and forget about it but I never could. Since then, it's happened to me about 2 other times.
What could this be????? I hate to think about it, but could it be realted to evil spirits? I've never practiced anything related to that sort of stuff, I do believe it exists though.
Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss this further.

It has happened to me when I was laying in bed. But I saw a spirit in the shape of a woman holding me down by my chest and wasn't able to get up until she let go. I was like this for couple a seconds but it feel real wired. After she let go it felt like a heavy weight was lifted from my chest.

That happened to me but I think you actually dream you are laying there and with all your power you can't get up. You are dreaming even though you don't realize you are sleeping. It is not a good feeling.

Yes, it has happened to me plenty of times. It's called lucid dreaming, when you are conscious in your sleep. Your mind is awake but your body is not. That's why you are unable to move and feel trapped. Sometimes I try to fight that feeling and try to move which is not fun, I would say.

When you sleep your muscles are disabled by your body. Some people wake up but don't get the muscles reactivated. This is actually where a lot of "alien abduction" stories come from. It's not "normal" but it's not a huge deal.
