I have a Laptop + a desktop,both running XP,both connected to the same Wifi hub,the desktop is my sons,the laptop is mine.
His room is one floor up,and uses his pc for all sorts of things including homework.

I would like to communicate directly to his pc (incase he has a pc problem)

I would also like to remote control his pc so i can, if i wish take complete control so i can guide him with online problems.

HARDWARE: 2 x pcs running exactly the same software.
2 x wifi conections
1 x bt home hub Wifi router

ANY help would be gratefull

Download a program called RealVNC. This will give you complete control of your sons desktop. Its free and isnt infected in any way. I have been using it for years. You will have to install the server side on his PC at least. The listem\ner would be installed on your PC. You can also install both listener and server on both PCs if you like.

XP has remote control built in. Start / All Programs / Accessories / Cumminications and Remote Desktop. Here is the catch. The PC you connect to must be password protected.

Are you sure its so you can help him with problems and not to make sure he's not looking at some dirty sites on the internet, becuase its not that hard to walk up stairs and fix the problem.
OK. Whatever, I use NetOp to control my File/Print Server from other floors, houses, cities, counties, and states. NetOp Remoter Control probably costs around 70 bucks I think. You can also download programs form Download.com that will allow you to view the screen and remote control it from anywhere too.
