Can anyone tell me how I can create and sustain an Ebay business that will turnover at least $1000 per week. Most of the tips I have paid for don't seem to work... any thoughts are very welcome, and will be much appreciated.

Find a product you know something about and go for it.
A friend of mine turned his hobby into a nice little earner. It is not a product I would have thought of though, but it works for him.

First you need a product - preferable something you know well. If your in to photography, sell lenses, tripods, cameras - if your into fishing sell rods, nets, tackle etc. You can use your own know how to spot quality items at good prices and you will already have an idea of potential sale price.

When you have your product you then need a supplier - a good wholesaler who has a good range. Forget buying 'wholesaler lists' or subscribing to supplier sites as these are all a waste of time (trust my - I know!!)

When you have your supplier and your product your ready to go. Think about how you will design your listing, formulate proper policies (shipping / returns / payment options etc.) and make sure you deal quickly with questions, ship items promptly and exceed customer expectations. It dosn't matter if these are hundreds of other sellers with the same product as you, you just need to ensure you can under-cut them, be better, faster, with more communication and expertise. This way you will develop a strong and reputable profile which will give you instant credibility amoung buyers.

I have been selling for 3 years and a full time trader for a year now and I'll never look back. You can choose your own hours, work from home and live where you like (so long as the UPS guy can find you!)

If you have trouble finding a good supplier then just pick this as your best answer and leave your e-mail address in your response - I'll send the details through. (I can't post them here - traders can't share wholesaler info with everyone!)

I was doing eBay for a while and was making money. The biggest problem on there is there is so much price competition that it is hard to make any money.

Most of the guys who you pay to give you lessons steer you to drop shipping and things like that. The problem with that is there are going to be ten other guys who are selling the exact same thing and beating the heck out of each other on price. I had more luck selling things I got in Mexico and brought across the border. There wasn't as much competition there and I had a really good starting price.

First of all find a site with lower fees such as EBid2Buy.com. You will put more money in your pocket with each sale. Secondly find yourself a product which you feel you can market.
