Ha, ha--not one of my strong points lol. I get very stressed out when I have an important appointment--start worrying and getting ready hours before the event.
Was late nearly every day in grammar school (and I lived right across the street from the school). This was basically because my mom forced me to eat breakfast before I could leave the house. Continued being late to school through high school - mostly because I just hated getting up in the morning. Finally, failed to show up at jobs at which I was hired--due to staying up too late at night.
It is important to be on time because:
It will make you feel better about yourself.
Others will think of you as being responsible.
Others will think of you as considerate.
Doing so gives you the time to calm down and relax.

The Importance of Punctuality
If you think that having an 8:45 a.m. tee time means you can run to the first tee and hit your opening shot at 8:45:59 a.m., think again.
This is one example of dynamics. Philosophical speaking, punctuality can be taken to an extreme. Corporal punishment for being late for a class for example. There's alot to be said on this subject but I personally think the point can be summed up by saying mankinds' greatest resolve will not be whether he is or isn't on time, but it will depend on how he chooses to resolve matters of conflict as such.

It is only important if other people are waiting for you, and expecting you to be in a certain place at a certain time (like a loved one, employer, friend).
If the only person affected is you, then it's up to you to decide if it's important.

When a meeting time is setup it is a social contract between 2 or more people.
By not showing up on time you are failing to keep up your end of that contract.
It basically amounts to lying or telling people that you can't be trusted.

It's respectful, polite and people are waiting. Their time is important too!

It shows that you care. How do you feel when some one makes you wait. I know I feel like that person is not taking into consideration of my time, and that they think they are better than everyone around them. Why does the world have to wait for you? Will you wait for them?

Besides the obvious reasons of respect and responsibility, it keeps your internal clock from going haywire. When people are always late, it leads to disarray in your life.

So you don't annoy, inconvenience, or offend everyone else involved in the appointment. Being habitually late is a sign of egotism--it tells others that you don't care about anyone but yourself.
