I mean if we use pyres of wood and lay the dead body on it and burn,which would lead to less harmful emissions into the atmospehere rather than the more electronic way of dealing with dead wouldnt it be a better sustainable path, i mean ofcourse the wood used could be like say bamboo it is easy to grow and faster growth aswell, so my question is how many of us are open to this process of dealing with the dead?

Um, no funeral pyres would not be less harmful to the environment. They would be more harmful than any crematory ever will be. Crematories are equipped with numerous air-cleaners and after-burners to reduce the amount of pollution, whereas a pyre would just be directly releaseing pollution into the atmosphere. Crematories are actually reather Earth-friendly, not to mention greatly scrutinized by the EPA!

Personally, when I am dead I don't give a stuff what they do with my body - they can use me for a hat stand if they wish. On the other hand, you can't tell me you would want to go to the funeral of a loved one and watch them being put on a bonfire like Guy Falkes.

Personally I've put it in my Will that I want a green burial at an ecologically sound site.
