Find a local skating club, they usually have skaters and their parents selling their old skates. Or look up a figure skating shop in town

does your child even like skating? are you talking figure skates or hockey??? Has he ever even skated? I am assuming he has skated but he's so young. I would check out reidell.com or spteri.com These are great brands of figure skates, i was in reidells for 9 years and S P Teri's for about another 9 years (I am 19, started skating at 3 and I am still goin strong! : ) I am also an instructor) I would get the most beginner set available. Just look online to get an idea of what is out there, you should take him in to a skate shop or pro shop to have him fitted for boots. If you do buy them online, buy him his exact shoe size. Do not buy skates bigger so he can "grow into them" this will only cause multiple problems for him, and possible injuries. That is something you just can't do with skates. They need to fit perfect. If these are not what you are looking for, a lot of my students have had great luck at Play It Again Sports (used sporting good store). He needs a boot with SOME stiffness to it, not a lot though, for ankle support. Anyway, i could go on and on about this topic. Good Luck

I would go with the least expensive pair of Jackson or Redial skates. Considering that he is only1 1/2 he may not even enjoy skating, just make sure that even tho he is so small and just learning that he does have ankle support.
