Oh lucky you. Maine is a wonderful place to live. And believe me you will not have any trouble finding a place to live for a young outdoor family. It's all outdoors. Just google The State of Maine. There is probably a job bank for you to look at and real estate pages. The air is so clean in Maine.
Did you ever live North before? It will be quite a change from Florida. A bit cooler in the winter. Remember woolen clothes won't hold moisture like cotton fabrics. Wool breathes and can keep you warm even if you are wet. Nylon socks can make your feet sweat and freeze. Polypropeline and neoprene are similar to the way wool wicks away moisture.
Alaska is another wonderful place to live. Excellent schools. Very modern in Fairbanks and Anchorage. But the places to live are outside of the cities and big towns. Homeschooling is good way to go as well. Plenty of outdoor things to do in Alaska.

The southern part, like Wells and York, are up and coming with great schools, and more family things to do. I have spent the past 27 years going to wells, as my family owns a home there, that was once a vacation home, but now a permanent residence.
Much prettier than Florida's strip mall look, but it can be boring in the winter if you are not one who likes to get outside and play in the snow.
Southern Maine is also close to Portsmouth New Hampshire, and eastern Massachusetts, where there are plenty of oopurtunites to work and play.
Good Luck

Portland, Maine sounds like it would be a good place for you. There is a big hospital there where I am sure you could find work, plus there is tons of stuff to do outdoors ANYWHERE in Maine. Plus, Portland is gorgeous.

I would start with York. Nice place. Portland would be next. Sanford area. Bar Harbor. Bangor. I really cannot say there is a bad place there.

Moving to Maine eh? that is where I am from. Let's see, there is Bangor, Lewiston (trying to get towns where major hospitals are at for you), Rumford, Augusta, Bath, Brunswick, Waterville, Portland. If you go to www.maine.com and start from there, it should give you information you wish. If you need anything more please feel free to email me from this yahoo answer.
