I suddenly can't connect to the internet on one of my computers. It's connected through cable, and the 2 lights on the back of the hard drive are green and orange. I made sure everything is connected securely, and it is. Any ideas what i could do to get connected again? I don't know if that orange light should be green?

You need to be clearer on how you connect! Do you use a router that all PCs are connected to? If so, run the internet connection wizard on the PC that isnt connecting, select lan when it asks how you connect. Follow instructions, if this fails, either your networking card or your Cat5 cable is defective.

I've often had this problem. It's a number of different possibilities. But since you've said that it's a sudden issue, then I'm presuming that you did have internet up until now, and that you haven't changed anything to your pc (such as installing a firewall software, antivirus software, or p2p software, or installing new hardware; You should ask all the others who share your pc).
Now once you've confirmed that nothing has been done to the pc recently, this is one quick solution: unplug the power cord to the modem for 10 seconds and replug it back in (not the router, but the one that has the cable connected from the wall). After it reads 'Online' again, and presuming that you have Windows XP, go to Start Menu, go to Control Panel, go to Network and Internet Connections, and go to Network Connections. Then, right-click on the 'Local Area Connection' and choose 'Repair'. This should reset the connection and reverifies the IP address. If it works, just close down all these windows, and start up your Internet Explorer or Firefox and voila!
Now if this doesn't work, you should call your ISP customer service (find the phone number on your monthly bill), and they should be able to help you.
One last thing if the above didn't work: I had a situation where my ethernet cable was damaged (even though it was fairly new). When I replaced it with another, I got my connection back (you still have to do the above steps).
Hope this was helpful...

Try resetting your cable modem. There should be a reset button on it (it will be very small. You may need a pen to push it.) Or unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in to let it reboot. I've had to do that a couple of times.

it depends on how you are connecting. are you connecting thru a router, if so you can try resetting everything, shut computer down, disconnect power from modem, then router, wait 60 seconds, reconnect modem wait until all lights are lit, reconnect router then computer if that doesn't work, try different cables or different port on the router,

attempt resetting your modem. each modem is diverse with this technique. some have a small button on the back which will say reset, some do no longer say reset yet nevertheless have the button. If it would not have a button to reset the modem, then unplug the modem and wait a couple of minutes then attempt it back.

The best advise I've ever received in that area is to unplug the router and the modem for one minute and plug them back in. This will allow them or, it to reset.

The 1st thing u must do is checking your network connection if it is disable or enable. 2nd thing go to see if your PC got IP add, or not by use the command "ipconfig". if yes try to use "ping" command to see if there is a reply from your ISP. if not try to call your service provider.

Sorry, not all orange lights are created equal. Try calling your ISP for customer support.
