I work just outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico as an office manager and make decent money for New Mexico. I have the best job in the world - very casual, no stress. New Mexico has extremely low salaries for the cost of living so be smart, stay away!! I was an assistant supervisor at the newspaper here for 5 years (had been with the company 12 total) and was making $9.50/hr. Good luck, but NM's not the place to make money!

agree with the new mexico person; do not move there to make money. very low salaries. check the lists that come out from time to time on best cities to live in for the u.s. check cities that are really up-and-coming, like Phoenix, Atlanta, Minneapolis, etc. There are lots of lists out there. California and Hawaii have higher pay but higher cost of living as well; many folks have to get two or more jobs to get along. we are in NM and considering moving because the pay is so miserable no matter how much experience and know-how you have. choose carefully, but remember you can always change your mind and move again, so it's not the end of the world if you choose poorly the first time. shop around online for jobs and see who you gives you a good response.
