I personally like HP laptops... they are reasonable and reliable.
Dell is okay, good laptop and reliable, but WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE DELL FINANCIAL to finance your computer using a Dell charge account. They are the RUDEST people I have ever dealt with, and it is impossible to actually speak with anyone from this country as they have outsourced their financial program to another country, so there is an endless communication gap. If you miss one payment, they jack your interest rate up to 25%, and they constantly charge you late fees because your due date changes every month. AND, they refuse to change your due date to any other part of the month, even though they say they will. They are liars and cheats! I will never, ever (even if someone gave me one!) own another Dell product... My APR is currently 29.9% - WHICH SUCKS!
The people at the actual Dell place where you pick your parts out and everything are nice, but once you start dealing with Dell Financial, the gloves are off, baby...

If your interested in more than 14,000 viruies on your laptop, big battery charger, a battery that can make you trip and brake your laptop, low battery life, ugly design, than buy a cheap old un-relaible, easy crashing windows. But, if your intrested in a RELIABLE macheine soo powerfull , it runs both Apple and windows, has a built in camera, blue tooth, VIRUIS free, itunes, front row, more memory and disk space than a windows, awesome screen resolution, comes with good games MAGNETIC battery cord so if you trip, you wont bring your laptop down with you, and best design, than my friend, welcome to a Macbook.

Browse the music, photos, and videos on your Mac as easily as you browse music on your iPod — from anywhere in the room, whether living room, dorm, hotel, or office.
Details that matter
Impeccable design sets the MacBook apart. You’ll enjoy turning heads wherever you go, but Apple design is much more than skin deep. Every part of MacBook is carefully planned, chosen, and placed to make the most superlative computer in every dimension.
Built-in iSight camera
Artfully placed above every MacBook display is an integrated iSight camera, for instant video chats or to capture a candid for your photo or video blog. No configuration, no hassle. It all just works with software included with Mac OS X and iLife ’06.
Your amazing stuff
You can make amazing stuff
Every Mac comes with iLIfe ’06, a suite of critically acclaimed applications that make it easy for you to make photo books, greeting cards, calendars, DVDs, websites, and podcasts.
Long-lasting performance
Mac OS X is clearly superior when it comes to power management. For instance, MacBook Pro dims the display when you’re in a dark room. Just one of the many ways your MacBook Pro conserves energy out of the box, optimizing both AC and battery power.
Bright widescreen display
Widescreen display
The gorgeous, bright display of MacBook lets you see it all, right before your eyes in pristine clarity. Keep several chats going while you browse the web. Or all of your palettes while you perfect a masterpiece.
MagSafe Power Adapter
Juice up your MacBook with a magnetic power connection. Tripping over the cord doesn’t send your MacBook flying off a table or desk; it simply breaks cleanly away, without damage to either the cord or the system.
Built-in wireless
AirPort Extreme lets you connect to any 802.11g-compatible wireless network. Bluetooth 2.0+EDR offers fast connections to peripherals such as cell phones, mice, keyboards, and more. Mac OS X lets you use both right out of the box without a hassle.
