I am hoping that more people on here understand the concept of a hypothetical question, and that I can get some interesting well though out answers.
What if it were switched, and men had the babies and were the ones responsible for deciding on abortion or adoption. Do you think the fight regarding abortion would be as astronomical as it is right now?
When answering keep in mind the struggles women have had in getting the vote and equal rights (still fighting for that one),and many other things. Women have always throughout history been seen as poor decision makers. Do you think men would be given more leeway in making a decision like that, simply because they are generally believed to have better judgement?
I have no opinion either way, just looking for others who may have an opinion on it. And yes, I am a pro choice feminist.

No, I do not think the fight would be as difficult. Men basically make their own choices without a fight from anyone. That's the way it is and the way it's been. BTW, I am pro-life; but, good question.

You arn't getting the answeres you want because all of the problem women faced stemmed from their having the babies. They (we) have the magic, so to speack, faced the health risks, raised the wiggling, squealing infant. We were put down because men feared the ability to creat where they could not, and because the differing biology that went into childbearing left us physically smaller and more emotionally honest.
If men had the babies, the roles would be reversed. I think that there woud still be large elements who had a problem with abortion. I have a problem with it. I thinks its terrible. But I don't think it should be hard to get or illegal. I think more women should be brave enough to have their children and either raise them or give them up. I think people of both sexes should keep their pants on if they don't want to creat a baby. But I know that poor judjment, rape, incest and horrifying complications of pregnancy are a fact of life. And as long as those things happen, the victems should have a choice to not bear the product of an attack. TO bear their rapists baby, and to not give birth to a vegitable, to not risk their own health for some one or thing that probably will not survive anyhow.
Its a messy subject, and the answers are never as easy as some would like them to be.

I have always believed that men have no say in the abortion discussion. The have no idea what they are talking about, so they are not entitled to an opinion.
I am pro choice for two reasons:
1: I do not believe in abortion personally, but as stated above, until I can personally carry a child, I really have no valid opinion.
2: If people who use abortion, a surgical and potentially dangerous procedure for common birth control, then I put them in the same category as those that regularly bungee jump. Don't call me when the cord breaks.

If men where put in that situation there wouldn't be many new babies. Men are naturally selfish and don't want to be bothered with the pain, the blotting, the sore feet, the bad back, the no drinking...they couldn't handle being pregnant and I believe there would be less controversy about it. I am also pro-choice.

If it were up to men, there would be more abortions than there are now, simply because they couldn't handle childbirth.
I am pro choice myself, but think about it. Most men can't think straight when it comes to something as serious as this. Most would have an abortion because they can't even handle having a simple cold, let alone giving birth!

yes i think things would be alot different
just look at the turmoil recently in japan over the possibility of Princess Kiko, (wife of Emperor Akihito's second son Prince Akishino) giving birth to a girl..."Japan's succession crisis arises because the Imperial Household Law mandates that 'the Imperial Throne of Japan shall be succeeded to by male descendants in the male line of Imperial Ancestors'."
on a lighter note: if guys gave birth there would only be one child per family

i became decrease than the impact that quite some the justifications why women are referred to as "the weaker intercourse" are with reference to the wellbeing themes that we've by way of fact of our reproductive gadget. The "hysteria" that adult males believed women to be stricken with--and for that reason made them undesirable decision makers--relies on the Greek be conscious for "uterus". or perhaps immediately, lots of "irrational" habit perpetuated by women is traced to (or blamed on) hormonal flucutations. And the place do hormonal fluctuations come from? The reproductive cycle. on condition that adult males don't have this cycle, they're traditionally considered by way of fact the greater "rational" creatures who can continually think of logically (of direction now it quite is hassle-loose responsible habit like rape on raging testosterone). Plus, being pregnant and childbirth weaken women, and because basically they could nurse the toddlers they proceed to be tied to them, which additionally deprives them of capability. So what i'm getting at is, if the jobs have been reversed and adult males have been the childbearers, then the capability shape additionally be reversed, by way of fact it may be the adult males being plagued by, or being appeared to be plagued by, reproductive problems, and for that reason the "weaker intercourse", on an identical time as the girls may be the rational creatures. So the struggles over reproductive rights may be precisely the comparable.

If it were up to them, the population would have died off as soon as birth control was invented. Maybe before.
