I am looking for legal information about receiving disability benefits since I have become unable to work. So far everyone I have talked to has said I will be denied, except my doctor.

Go to the DWP web site http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/discare/

The trouble with listening to advice from "everyone" is that they all think they are right and quite often are wrong. The only way to find out if you will get it or not is by applying. If your doctor says yes then Id say you have a better than average chance. Get the forms and go for it!

You are always denied the first time around. You will have to get you a lawyer that specializes in this field. Do not look for any benefits anytime soon. It can take up to four years to receive your first check.

First seek out a lawyer that deal only in Social Security Disability Benefits/Compensation; then go from there...of course one, two or maybe three physicians will have to agree that you are truly disabled. It seems to me, from all that I have heard and read, it is not unusal to be denied...the first go around, unless you have a terminal illness.

They keep denying you until you hire a lawyer to help you get it.
