There are several, but surviving a car accident involving a semi is up there, and also witnessing 9/11 first hand and actually being at the site the day after it happened (my dog was involved with the search and rescue effort) is high on the list as well.

there are a lot,unfortunately.
1) Dec 15th 1981, first brain surgery to drain fluid from my brain....my family was told to make funeral arrangements. You will notice that I did NOT die.
and I've survived 43 brain surgeries,so...
they were difficult days, but I survived.

Being an older person I've had many...but one that stands out for me is the day my best friend died. She had surgery and died from complications. I don't remember doing anything without thinking of her first. A lot of time has passed and sometimes I don't think of her for days. The mourning was an awful time but forgetting her is worse.

I had stayed up all night working on my term paper, so I had no sleep, and teacher had threatened to fail me because it was 30 seconds late, literally. Then my dad called to have me meet him at the hospital to tell me that my mom was dying of terminal cancer. I was crying so hard, I got into a fender bender on the way home to tell my brother.
Yeah, that was a sucky day.

The day I miscarried....or the day they told me the unborn child I was carrying had problems, but they didn't know which ones (spine abifida, downs), etc....and they could schedule me for an ultrasound for three weeks.....It wasn't the poor me syndrome, it was the adjustments need to be made, safety of my infant syndrome!
