I'm a guy who works in the cosmetics department in a store. I enjoy my job. I like working with the makeup,nail polish,etc. would most girls think that I'm gay because I'm doing a traditionally female job?

No way! To be honest with you, when it comes to "traditional" female jobs, like a hairdresser, I prefer men. You know that if a guy is working in that environment, he truly enjoys what he's doing and is more eager to help me or give me the cut I want. A lot of the top makeup artists are male, and they do a fantastic job because they really do enjoy it! No matter what other people say, if you really like it, stick with it! It's not often that people find a job they really like.

Unfortunately Yes,
Your in a catch 22 situation. Women want guys that know all about makeup and they can talk to them about different things.
They want their men to be well groomed in every way. Yet if you are they think your gay.
If you sit around, don't groom dress like a bum they complain.
Look at today's popular actors all pretty boys who wear makeup. Yet women go nuts over them.
I review Men's cosmetics and I face the problem all the time. People think I'm gay becuase I know about makeup. I got three kids and never found any man attractive.
What's important is if you like what you do, then do it. Don't base it off of what a girl might say to you one day, because the next day she'll say the exact opposite.
Don't worry if some one thinks your gay. If you know what you are then that's all that counts.

At first thought or glance, yes, however, don't women get all dolled up to impress men? I think I would want your opinion while I'm shopping at a cosmetics department since you would be the person I'm trying to impress. It's all in how you hold yourself as to whether we think you're gay or not.

Well, nowadays, I would hope someone wouldn't make such assumptions. But, unfortunately, I'm sure you will run into some women who will think you are. Just stay strong and keep doing a great job!

No, there are lots, well - not lots, of hetero men that have an affection for esthetics and cosmetics. There are lots of stylists and make-up artists that are hetero males. It's not a gender based field. You like what you like. Good for you!

depends if you're pretty. if you shape your eyebrows or hairline or wear makeup then yes, anybody would think you're gay. just don't talk like a girl and you'll be fine. if you find yourself looking pretty, take a good look and wave goodbye.
