Probably trying to marry them off at the age of 9. I see it quite often where I live and amazingly the parents see nothing wrong with it. I think it is a society problem . My girls play with the Bratz and Barbie things but, the difference is that I would never let them dress in that manner. I just blame it on parents making the wrong decision.

I don't understand it either. You walk past the children's clothing section at stores, and all you see is skimpy stuff. I am 20 and have NEVER worn a Minny skirt, but you see all these little girls running around in them. It is awful. I think it just screams " pedophiles, here I am, come and get it." It is sooo sad. If I ever have a daughter, I will so not dress her in most of the clothing out there for her.

i always believe that the result of any child's behavior is the responsibility of the parents' upbringing. the mother is the role model for the child. obviously in this case, the mother dresses up provocatively and therefore the daughter emulates. also the influence of media and peers plays another important part in molding the child's life. what she sees as appropriate and acceptable is different from what we as parents see. if we do not guide their thoughts and behavior then the result is what we see on the streets today - kids who smoke, take drugs, fight, steal, dress provocatively, and the list goes on.
the ultimate responsibiity lies with the parents. unfortunately today, many parents just don't care.

Oh, tell me about it.
A certain relative of mine took her daughters, aged 4 and 5, for a photographers "make over", that included every ridiculous prop (feather boas, sparkly dresses, MAKE-UP, fer cryin' out loud), and has been proudly distributing the resulting photos to everyone.
I'm not a blood relation to her, so I'm keeping my mouth shut...but, I'm also keeping my eyes open.
So, why is she doing this...? I'm not sure, but it clearly has to do with garnering attention for herself.

i think women do that because they cant wear those items so they put their daughters in them to live through their daughters. its bad because the companys make those clothes for people to buy. some of the slogans and saying on those are inappropriate also. just rude and degrading stuff.

You can't blame the way a child is dressed on why pedophiles molest children. The way a child is dressed is not why pedophiles prey on children, they have a particular type of child they go after and most likely it is the child that looks and acts isolated from the rest of the children. So instead of worrying about how your child is dressed maybe you should try teaching them tolerance and how to include everyone instead of shunning one child or the other for the way they look. And as far as buying children's clothing being the parents decision you are correct but sometimes finances determine how a child is dressed and if you can't go to an upper priced store you will take what you can afford even if it isn't exactly how you would like your child to look.

I have a three year old daughter and I am very cautious about how she dresses now, and how she sees the women in her life dress.

And what's up with those creepy beauty pageants where 4-year olds wear lipstick and hairspray, and dress in skimpy glittery outfits? Ick.
